2) In a country like Singapore which is multi-religious, what are the possible challenges we might face? How can we overcome these challenges?

Challenges :

-What type of polocies

-Racial riots could easily occur if a multi-religious issues is not done properly and delicately

-The economic growth and development

How to Overcome Such Challenges:

-People need to exercise tolerance of the differences and similarities of the different religions.

-Different religious groups need to learn to respect each other's religion.

-They need to accomodate one another, make practical compromises so that all can live harmoniously together.

-Government needs balance the festivities of all religions so as to ensure religious harmony,equal opportunities for all, regardless of race & religion.

1) How was religions and philosophies important to the people of the ancient civilisations?

-Religions and Philosophies made life easier for people

-It was a source of spiritual comfort in the unknown

3)How similar or different are their systems with Singapore's

Similarities:
-They all have a government and use legalism

Differences:
-The 3 ancient civilisations were ruled by kings while Singapore is ruled by a prime minister.
-The 3 ancient civilisations could not choose which jobs they wanted as they followed their classes while in Singapore, Education is the way to determine which job a person can do.

2)What were the differences between the government and society of the 3 ancient civilisations?

Government: Method of selecting civil servants
-Ancient China chose their civil servants through meritocracy.
-Ancient India determined civil servants based on Caste.
-Ancient Southeast Asia determined civil servants based on their wealth.

Society: 1)Name of centralised rule 2) Number of concentric circles

1)Ancient China uses the Class System, ancient India uses the Caste System and ancient Southeast Asia uses the Basic Classes.

2)Ancient China had 2(Capital and Provinces), ancient India had 4(Capital, Inner Provinces, Outer Provinces and Border zone) and ancient Southeast Asia had 3 (Capital, Provinces and Vassal states).

1)What were the similarities between the government and society of the 3 ancient civilisations?

Government:Divine Kingship

-People in ancient India believed that god gave the kings the right to rule.

-People in ancient China believed that the heaven wanted people to be ruled wisely and justly
(Mandate of Heaven).

-Kings of ancient Southeast Asia also saw themselves as divine rulers.

Society: Centralised rule

-Ancient India separate their people from Class System (Varnas) into Caste System (Jatis).

-Ancient China separate their people by Class System.

-Ancient Southeast Asia separates their people by Basic classes.

What do you think had caused the downfall of the Shang dynasty?

The last king of the Shang dynasty had been killed by the western zhou dynasty.

What do you think are important that led to the rise of the shang dynasty?

The people of the Shang dynasty lived in walled communities,grew rice and millet,raised cattle/sheep,pigs and dogs. They also used potters' wheels to make fine pottery.They were farmers, traders, priests and craftsman using the most advanced technology of their time. Their writing was the pictographic writing.
